REVIEW: Fuzzy Mud by Louis Sachar

By Anisha, Teen Volunteer Fuzzy Mud, written by Louis Sachar, is a fictional book that focuses on the idea of honesty and integrity. The story starts off innocently in the perspective of a fifth grader named Tamaya. After taking a detour home one day, Tamaya accidentally gets involved with fuzzy mud, which is a disastrous chemical that takes effect immediately. Eventually, what Tamaya thinks to be just a couple of rashes becomes a global conflict causing major apprehension in society. This book is able to develop a theme of integrity, with Tamaya always intending to tell the truth and do the right thing no matter what. I particularly enjoyed this book because it gave me a new insight on humanity’s depiction of virtue, along with relationships, trust, and secrecy. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fiction with some mystery.
